Catherine Battershill

Catherine Battershill

Managing Director

Catherine Battershill has over 15 years of experience in asset management in Europe and Asia. Prior to the founding of Fund Boards Council (FBC), Catherine led major marketing and communications initiatives across major institutional and wholesale retail markets. She spearheaded a myriad of campaigns, including the development of an international thought-leadership programme for a leading multi-national asset manager.

Catherine has held voluntary board roles in education and a children’s charity, through which she has developed a strong interest in governance topics. This, combined with her asset management background, led her to join Shiv in setting up FBC.

Mary Came

Research Manager

Mary is a researcher with over 15 years’ experience in a variety of industries including media, retail, and financial services. Within the financial services area, she has led on a wide variety of research projects in areas such as consumer duty, product concept testing, brand research, and running Net Promoter Score (NPS) and customer satisfaction studies. She was also responsible for developing and running a large quarterly study of consumer finances and behaviour for a leading financial services provider.  

Mary joined FBC in 2023 to further expand FBC’s consultancy and thought-leadership work, with a focus on Fund Board Governance, providing insights on Product Governance, ESG and Sustainable Investing Oversight and Operations Governance.

Peter Christmas

Peter Christmas

Senior Adviser

Peter has over 35 years’ experience working in the asset servicing industry, including spells in the Far East and USA, with a broad expertise of the financial services landscape across a number of sectors globally, including significant experience with asset managers, wealth managers and investment banks. In his executive career, Peter specialised in senior client facing roles, including managing director positions at Pershing and Standard Chartered Bank. Most recently he was Head of Client Management and Business Development at NatWest Trustee and Depository Services.

Peter has a B.Sc. in Electronic Engineering and spent the first years of his career working in Systems Development roles in Government and Finance. He also holds the IMC Part 1 and 2 qualification as well as the Certificate in ESG Investing from the CFA.

Fiona Evans

Fiona Evans

Director, Head of Operations

Fiona has been a member of the FBC team since 2018. She has been responsible for the design and development of FBC’s website since its first incarnation in May 2018 and was integral in setting up FBC’s membership platform.. She continuously supports the team in pushing forward our technology, analytics and operational programmes for the benefit of our clients and members.

Fiona has over 25 years’ experience of website development and management, technology deployment initiatives, project management, communications, content management and business & technical writing.

Brandon Horwitz

Brandon Horwitz

Senior Adviser and Non-Executive Director

Brandon is a Senior Adviser and non-executive director at FBC and is involved with FBC’s consultancy and thought-leadership work, with a focus on product governance, assessment of value and investment governance, including oversight of sustainable investments.

He is also a qualified actuary and Principal Consultant at NomBon Consulting, a boutique management consultancy focused on helping firms to design, manage and distribute regulated products and advice services which deliver good outcomes for retail customers.

Brandon also chairs the Appointments Committee of the Financial Reporting Council’s Tribunal Panel and has experience as a Non-Executive Director of organisations regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), The Pension Regulator (TPR) and the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission (GFSC).

Simon Hynes

Simon Hynes

Senior Adviser

Simon joined the Fund Boards Council as a Senior Adviser in January 2022 to work on the Distributor oversight and Product governance initiatives. He has extensive UK & European Investment Management distribution experience with leadership and board roles at Jupiter and Legal & General Investment Management.

His UK AFM board experience saw detailed involvement in Assessment of Value, PROD and other regulatory initiatives. He also built LGIM’s Retail sales presence in Europe and was integral to the development of its ETF business. This gave a fascinating insight into the work of European fund regulators and increased his latent enthusiasm for sharing best practice in fund governance.

Since 2020 Simon has also served as a non executive director for NedGroup Investments.

Elizabeth Marsh

Senior Research Adviser

Elizabeth is a researcher and consultant with over 15 years of experience and a background in digital workplace strategy and communication. She works across business and academic research fields, undertaking varied research projects employing a wide range of techniques and writing both industry and journal papers. Working with corporate organisations in the UK and US, as well as professional membership bodies, she also engages in assessment and benchmarking exercises, as well as workshop facilitation and conference speaking.

With an MSc in Psychology, Elizabeth is undertaking part-time doctoral research at the University of Nottingham on the well-being of workers in modern digital workplace contexts. Her research intersects with her workplace mindfulness teaching, which she has been doing since 2019.

Aimi Ramlee

Aimi Ramlee

Membership Coordinator

Aimi has over a decade of experience managing and growing memberships across a range of industries. Aimi joined Fund Boards Council as a Membership Coordinator in 2021. Aimi previously co-directed private memberships of Buy-Side Heads of Trading and CEOs from the largest asset management firms in Asia Pacific with Institutional Investor Forums in London and Hong Kong. Recently, she has also managed the ASEAN Parliamentarians for Human Rights’ membership, comprising of current and former MPs from across Southeast Asia. In addition to her work building memberships, Aimi runs a software solutions company she co-founded in 2014 and actively works on sustainability and gender issues.

Zoe started with the Funds Board Council in 2022 as Team Administrator, to help manage the smooth running of the growing team. She brings a wealth of experience in working in fast-paced work environments and has a highly positive work ethic.

Zoe is energetic, personable and is highly organised and skilled at balancing the needs of the business and clients.

Shiv Taneja

Shiv Taneja

CEO

Shiv Taneja is the CEO of Fund Boards Council. He has over 30 years’ research and consulting experience in and around the global asset management industry. This is combined with a deep professional interest in corporate and investment fund board governance developed over the past decade. Shiv leads FBC in its overall services, including membership, consultancy and training.

Shiv has degrees in accounting and finance, and is a professional non-executive director, having qualified with the FT-NED, Level 7 Advanced Professional Diploma in 2013.

In addition to his work around investment fund board governance, Shiv is a recognised industry authority, media commentator and regular conference speaker on trends in the global asset management industry, having led and completed numerous large industry-wide studies in the area of market sizing, product development and distribution trends in both the retail and institutional segments of the industry.

Darren Wells

Darren Wells

Digital Experience Consultant

Darren started supporting Fund Boards Council in 2021, designing and building the website for the INED 2021 Bootcamp. He comes with 17 years experience in the digital/web field, including leading a user experience team at B&CE, providers of The People’s Pension, and running his own digital consultancy.

Darren will be focusing on providing our users with the best possible digital experience across our web platforms.

Suzanne Withers

Director, Communications and Business Management

Suzanne joined FBC in October 2021 to help support the needs of its growing membership. Suzanne brings over 20 years’ communications and reputation management experience from a diverse range of industries, including healthcare, financial services, transport and third sector. She has a passion for creating valuable thought-leadership and delivering insights through a mix of multi-media channels, engaging audiences whether they want to listen to a podcast, read a blog or join a discussion at a digital event. Outside of her working life, Suzanne has volunteered as a coach with education charity Future Frontiers for the past two years, supported the launch of the PRCA Marcomms Group and was pleased to be a judge at the Business Travel Journalist Awards.
