Shiv Taneja, CEO, Fund Boards Council

On 21 March, Catherine Battershill and I were joined by Carole Judd, Phil Wagstaff, Laurence Mumford and Nicola Palios to discuss the evolving role of funds boards, and specifically their role as fund board chairs.

This FCA-designated senior manager function is currently held by over 70 individuals appointed as chairs of fund boards of UK authorised fund managers, whose role has grown markedly from supervising a product subsidiary regulated entity to one that also includes distribution governance, ESG/sustainability, operations, conduct and culture, to name a few.

The hour-long Fund Boards Council Digital Meeting explored the primacy of the fund board, exec v iNED chairs (a nuanced discussion), skills balance on fund boards, and offered up all-important advice for aspirant fund board chairs.

The session was borne out of insights from the recently released FBC Fund Board Composition database

Our audience was drawn from Ireland, Luxembourg, the US and the UK.

FBC corporate members can watch this incisive and thoughtful webinar on replay via the FBC members’ portal.
