Every fund board is responsible for overseeing its investment manager, but beyond regular performance reports, how do boards satisfy themselves that a manager remains well run, appropriately resourced, true to its investment philosophy, and acting in investors’ best interests? How do they distinguish short-term market outcomes from more fundamental questions of process, capability, culture and governance?
FBC is undertaking new qualitative research into how fund boards oversee investment managers in practice, exploring how boards build confidence in an investment manager’s people, process, governance and decision-making, and how they provide effective challenge without becoming portfolio managers themselves.
The findings will be presented by FBC followed by a panel discussion with fund board directors.
