About this event

Managing liquidity risk is a core part of operating authorised funds, remaining high on the agenda of the FCA (with firms receiving a ‘Dear CEO’ letter in 2023 referring to the results of a thematic review).

The role of the fund board in overseeing liquidity risk management was a key focus of a recent FBC research project and we look forward to presenting and discussing our findings with you at this digital event.

FBC Senior Adviser, Brandon Horwitz, will share the findings including addressing questions such as:

  • Where and when is liquidity risk discussed as part of fund board oversight activities?
  • How is the fund board involved in setting policy, risk appetite and dealing with significant liquidity events?
  • What assurance do fund boards receive on the effectiveness of liquidity risk management controls?
  • What type of Management Information do fund boards receive on liquidity risk?
  • How have firms responded to the FCA’s 2023 Dear CEO letter and thematic review?

About this event

In this FBC Digital Meeting, we will explore how firms evaluate the performance of their boards. The discussion will look at the value of board reviews as a means of assessing board operations, the nature and scope of these reviews, who’s involved and how the outputs are used. We also will share initial insights from FBC’s detailed research in this area and speak to two senior governance professionals who have been closely involved in board reviews in the UK, Ireland and Luxembourg.

Chaired by FBC Managing Director, Catherine Battershill, the meeting is available exclusively to FBC Corporate Members and will provide fund board chairs, company secretaries and other governance professionals with valuable insights to help inform their own approaches to reviewing their fund boards.

About this event

Brandon Horwitz, FBC senior adviser, will present key findings from new FBC research on Consumer Duty (CD) dashboards and Management Information (MI). Following this, he will chair a panel discussion with the FCA’s Chris Douglas, who has responsibility for supervising a portfolio of large and medium sized asset managers, and Laurence Mumford at M&G.

The new FBC research focuses on how the CD dashboards and MI facilitate oversight and compliance with CD for authorised fund managers, what good practice looks like in terms of board packs/MI as well as providing recommendations and examples of good practices on how fund boards can further enhance their Consumer Duty oversight. Some of the key aspects that will be presented include:

  • How fund boards are involved in the Consumer Duty (CD) programme
  • Role of the CD champion
  • Current state of development of CD dashboards / MI
  • How good / poor customer outcomes are defined, including what might constitute ‘foreseeable harm’
  • Metrics used to measure good / poor customer outcomes
  • Use of internal / external research
  • Gaps / planned areas for development of CD dashboards / MI
