Alan Chalmers has joined Fund Boards Council (FBC) as a Senior Adviser. In this role, Alan will help FBC develop offerings for fund governance professionals in Europe as well as contribute to the growth of FBC’s strategic partnership program. FBC is a membership organisation for directors of mutual fund boards and aims to be the most authoritative source of insight, thought-leadership and engagement on fund governance topics across Europe.

Alan brings vast experience of the cross-border funds industry as a 30-year veteran of business publishing. He recently stepped down from his role as Publisher of Funds Europe, a publication he co-founded in 2002. Alan is also a qualified chartered accountant. Of his new role, Alan said, “Fund governance is one of the key challenges for the funds industry in this decade, looking at diversity, inclusion, independence, standards and regulation. The key to all of this is providing better protection for the investor, better advice, better understanding and better outcomes. I look forward to working with the FBC team to make whatever small contribution I may be able to offer”.

As FBC’s footprint becomes more global and governance offerings have continued to expand, the need has grown for regional expertise. Shiv Taneja, CEO of FBC said of Alan’s appointment, “We’re absolutely delighted to welcome Alan to FBC as a Senior Adviser. His understanding of asset management in cross-border markets of Europe, and even further afield, dovetails well with growing interest in FBC’s investment governance activities from independent and executive directors in these jurisdictions.”
